Day #25: Wangfujing

Today my excursion group went to the Wangfujing Market Street. I came with low expectations and a belief that this trip would not live up to the standard set by our trips that came before it. I was wrong. Today was easily my groups most enjoyable excursion. The goal this excursion was to try as many strange foods as possible for less than 50 kuai. We were able to find fried ice cream, caramelized cherries and grapes, bubble tea, and spicy pancakes. It was a sight you can never find in America: seeing scorpions for sale, fried mango, or smoke coming out of the drinks.

We all had a wonderful time trying the new foods, but then we had to go. Just like this trip, it is fun while it lasts, but in the back of all our minds to the fact that it will end and soon it will be time to lean back in our seats aboard our airplanes to fly back home. This weekend marks our last trip away from The Experimental High School. Seeing the Great Wall is something everyone of us has dreamed about since first hearing about China years and years ago.

  1. Hi, Dyl,
Grandpa and I have been so pleased to read about your adventures in China.
Whatta summer you are having. We read in the papers here about the floods
in Beijing and we’re glad all of you on the trip are OK.
We have moved to our new home and can hardly wait to show you how we
are squashed into the apartment. Actually we are very comfortable and happy.
    Have a joyful trip home!!
    Love, Ganny and Grandpa
